Lake Bled

Lake Bled, in front of the island

Hello again! Right now Orry and I are on the train heading towards Munich. We are passing through the Austrian countryside and it is really beautiful. I would like to come back here on my next trip to explore Austria a little bit more. I cant help but start singing the Sound of Music as we roll through the countryside. Orry keeps telling me to stop, he has never seen the movie! Can you believe that?! But enough of Austria, let me tell you about where we have just left, Lake Bled, Slovenia.

Budapest

On the Chain Link Bridge
Hello everyone! Orry and I have been in  Budapest the past couple of days and are having a great time. Budapest (pronounced Buda-pesht) is a beautiful and up and coming city. Although communism has been gone for over twenty years in the country, the government in finally just now trying to bring the city up to par with the rest of Europe (being head of the EU this semester may have something to do with that), which means there is a lot of construction going on around the city.

"ICH BIN EIN BERLINER"

Brandenburger Tor
Orry and I arrived in Berlin yesterday afternoon after a looong train ride. It was really nice outside so we strolled through the streets trying to familiarize ourselves with the city. We saw the Brandenburger Tor, the beautiful Prussian arches built during the 19th century to celebrate Prussia's military power. We also walked by the Reichstag, Germany's capital building.  Unfortunately you need a reservation to go inside the building, which we did not know in advance. We would have gone back to the hostel and booked a reservation for the next day, but it takes up to a week! So we were pretty bummed about that.

Amsterdam

In front of the I Amsterdam sign (in front of the Rijks)
Hello All! We finally made it to our first destination, Amsterdam. Our flight there was long and uncomfortable. We did not get much sleep but we managed to stay awake when we arrived to explore the city. Yesterday we walked around to familiarize ourselves with the city.
